I Do Believe... I Do
After the drama and disappointment of not getting to see X-Files: I Want to Believe on Wednesday night, Lisa and I did get to see it tonight. Yay for Hoyts!

I know many of you want to remain spoiler free so I won't give anything away but I'd like to say four things (hopefully all considered spoiler free):

  1. If you are/were an X-Files fan and you are debating whether to see it or not, go see it! You may just get a kick out of it. :)
  2. One hyphenated word: Shout-outs
  3. Stay until the very end of the credits.

Disclaimer: The above recommendation to see the movie X-Files: I Want to Believe is brought to you by someone who quite enjoyed the first movie and who thought seasons 8 and 9 of the original series didn't suck out loud. (That 'someone' would be me!) Therefore, you may want to take this recommendation with a shotgun full of rock salt. But, hey, I enjoyed the movie very much. :D

Yay for getting to see the movie. I want to see that so bad.

I loved X-Files! I love spoilers! I also have to admit I even liked seasons 8 & 9, too.

Are they still hunting aliens?
I always found alien episodes of Xfiles to be kinda dull

I don't think I'd be spoiling anything by telling you it's an alien free zone. It's more like one of the 'monster of the week' stories. :)

Man my whole flist are movie theater freaks. If I lived close to a theater I'd be one too. I WILLLL trek far to the theaters to see Jensen's movie in 2009 though. I could make the 3 hr drive to the theaters then lol.

"Stay until the very end of the credits"

you got me all curious saying that. lol

You should time it so you can see a double feature - Jensen in My Bloody Valentine 3D and Jared in Friday the 13th.

Hehehe... and it's all I'm gonna say! ;)

So it was good. *phew*

I didn't get to see a lot of seasons 8 & 9, but I did like what I saw.

Yep, I thought it was pretty good. Both Lisa and I got a lot of enjoyment out of it :)

The thing with the later seasons were how much they changed from the early days. Buut I still thought they were good for what they were. X-Files was the first TV Show I ever watched from the very first episode to the very last episode, without skipping any in the middle. So far I've only done that with one other show... Supernatural... and that one is still going! :)

What kind of shout outs are there?

OK, I'm going to try not to give away too much but there are shout-outs to previous crew members who worked on the original TV show (and who may work or may have worked on another TV show filmed in similar location ;) and also shout-outs to previous scenes, characters and props. I only noticed a few of the past crew references about halfway through, so I'm wondering if I missed any in the beginning. I'm going to have to see it again now! LOL.

Aaaargghhhh, I'll have to wait another WEEK for this! It sucks so much!

What's the fourth thing you wanted to say? Or is that the ticket stub? :D

Hopefully the week will go very quickly for you :D

LOL. No, the ticket wasn't the fourth thing. I wanted to say something about a particular line in the movie (it is just a one word line) and I was debating whether it would be considered a spoiler or not. I deleted it and re-wrote it about three times before I decided I wouldn't include it. Seems I forgot to update the number... oops. Good pick up ;)

My mum wants to see it too so I'll probably end up seeing it at least once more, if not a couple of times. :)

Hehehe! No worries :)
I'm not sure what made us stay til the end. We were discussing the movie, I think, and then we started actually watching the credits trying to figure out what they were showing and then ta-dah! Bonus! LOL

The conspiracy to stop us seeing the movie proved futile!!! They were no match for use! \O/
Since the weekend I've read a couple of other people's reviews and most of them said the same thing as me - If you're a fan of the original series, go see it :)

Ok, so I saw the movie. I liked it, but I have to say I was mildly disappointed in the plot itself.

Now that a little time has passed I'm hoping I can safely ask a question here without giving away spoilers to anyone else.

In your opinion, were Mulder & Scully already living together or did Scully just always know where Mulder was (having a key to the house, but then they had keys to each others' apartments during the series, too) and the case just brought them "back together"?

Also thank you for the heads up on staying after the credits. While it has been years since I'd even seen a movie at the theater and I usually stayed until the bitter end when I went, I definitely knew to stay for that one and got a squee moment.

Yeah, I agree with you about the plot. There were a couple of things I wasn't quite sure how they leaped to the conclusion they did and it probably took about 40 minutes or so for me to actually think, okay, I'm kind of intrigued. Up until then I was all with the, "oooh, Mulder!", "oooh, Scully!" as they alternately appeared on the screen ;)

In my opion, I think they were together but not necessary living together. I think Scully probably has an apartment somewhere but she also spends a considerable amount of time with Mulder at his house. It looked like a 'blokes' house, don't you think? In fact, I think it was the same colours as his apartment in Alexandria :D Also, the way Scully said something along the lines of, 'I worry about you out here all on your own.'

It was a cute ending, right? I still don't know what made us stay to the end but we were glad we did.

Our favourite part was the appearance of someone at a crucial part of the movie. My friend and I may have let out a rather loud, "Whoo!" and a louder, "Hoo!". (I'm not going to put the name because it's a huge spoiler) XD
